Glass for ALU and PVC carpentry
Thermal and sound insulation of glass:
insulation of windows and low-energy constructing in general. The energy losses of buildings are linked largely to windows area. A crucial factor for window insulating properties is glass which stands for the largest surface in an opening – around 70%. It means that the largest energy losses are generated here. The thermal insulation of glass is measured by the heat transfer coefficient Ug . The lower the value, the better are the thermal insulating properties of glass. ABS recommends you to install IZO glasses with “Ug” value 1,1 or less. Installing such glasses you save energy greatly.
As for sound insulation, the largest role here has glass thickness. A normal IZO 4/16/4 glass which is regularly installed in carpentry has a sound insulation of 33dB. It means that it lowers the outer noise of, e.g. 70 dB to 37 dB which basically means that cars from a busy street won't be heard through a closed window with such glass. Should you require additional sound insulation we can provide such glasses as well.
SAFETY GLASS
We distinguish two types of safety glass: TEMPERED AND LAMINATED
Tempered glass is glass that has been processed by special thermal or chemical treatment at around 600° C after which it is suddenly cooled by air increasing thus its strength approximately five times. Such glass is used for windscreens, automatic doors, glass facades etc.
Laminated glass is made of 2 or more glass panes mutually joined by a special PVB interlayer, excellent sound insulation. In comparison with tempered glass, laminated glass does not shatter in smaller pieces in case of breaking but remains in one piece and thus continues to protect.

TEMPERED GLASS In case of breaking, the glass shatters in many small fragments with smooth edges which can't cause greater injuries. |
LAMINATED GLASS Laminated glass does not shatter in smaller pieces in case of breaking but remains in one piece and thus continues to protect. |
